These terms should not be mixed casually.

A robust system often distinguishes:

Popover -> generic floating surface
Menu    -> list of actions
Listbox -> selection widget
Select  -> form selection control
Combobox -> text input + popup choices

Accessibility behavior differs significantly.

Important:

• Escape behavior
• trigger relationship
• focus management
• keyboard navigation
• collision detection
